National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is held by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) during Library and Information Week each year. NSS has been running since 2001, and in 2020 over 1,297,000 people participated in over 14,000 locations around the world.
Each year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places. NSS is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote reading and literacy and explores age-appropriate themes.
