Borrowing rules: Borrowing rules

Borrowing for ELC students

Pre-Kindergarten - Year 2 students can:

  • Borrow 4 items at a time
  • Renew their items as many times as they like (items can be renewed online by creating a library account and then logging into the library catalogue)
  • Most loans are for two weeks except for:
    • AV hardware which can be borrowed for 1 day
    • DVDs which can be borrowed for 3 days
    • Magazines which can be borrowed for 3 days
    • Class sets which can be borrowed for 20 weeks
  • ELC Reference items and Senior Fiction in the Stephens Library cannot be borrowed by ELC students
  • There are no charges for missing items but we appreciate it when items are returned to the library by the end of each term

Borrowing for JS students

Year 3 - 6 students can:

  • Borrow 3 items at a time when they are in Year 3 or 4
  • Borrow 4 items at a time when they are in Year 5 or 6
  • Renew their items as many times as they like (items can be renewed online by creating a library account and then logging into the library catalogue)
  • Most loans are for two weeks except for:
    • AV hardware which can be borrowed for 1 day
    • Magazines which can be borrowed for 3 days
    • Class sets which can be borrowed for 20 weeks
  • Stephens Library reference items, teacher reference items and Senior Fiction in the Stephens Library cannot be borrowed by JS students
  • JS students may borrow items from the Senior Fiction collection in the Stephens Library if their parents provide written permission to the Librarian, Mrs Kate Reid
  • JS students are asked to please return overdue items by the end of each term
  • Charges may apply to items not returned at the end of the School year

Borrowing for MS students

Year 7 - 8 students can:

  • Borrow 5 items at a time
  • Renew their items as many times as they like (items can be renewed online by creating a library account and then logging into the library catalogue)
  • Most loans are for two weeks except for:
    • AV hardware which can be borrowed for 1 day
    • Nettlefold reserve items which can be borrowed for 1 day
    • Magazines which can be borrowed for 3 days
    • Class sets which can be borrowed for 20 weeks
  • Stephens Library senior fiction, reference and teacher reference items cannot be borrowed by MS students
  • MS students are asked to please return overdue items by the end of each term
  • Charges may apply to items not returned at the end of the School year

Borrowing for SS students

Year 9 - 12 students can:

  • Borrow 10 items at a time
  • Renew their items as many times as they like (items can be renewed online by creating a library account and then logging into the library catalogue)
  • Most loans are for two weeks except for:
    • AV hardware which can be borrowed for 1 day
    • Reserve items which can be borrowed for 1 day
    • Magazines which can be borrowed for 3 days
    • Class sets which can be borrowed for 20 weeks
  • Items from the Nettlefold library Reference and  Archive collections cannot be borrowed by SS students.  
  • SS students are asked to please return overdue items by the end of each term
  • Charges may apply to items not returned at the end of the School year

Staff borrowing rules

Staff can:

  • Borrow 200 items at a time
  • Renew their items as many times as they like (items can be renewed online by creating a library account and then logging into the library catalogue)
  • Most loans are for two weeks except for:
    • AV hardware which can be borrowed for 1 day
    • Reserve items which can be borrowed for 1 day
    • Magazines which can be borrowed for 3 days
    • Class sets which can be borrowed for 20 weeks
  • There are no charges for missing items however staff are asked to please return overdue items by the end of each term
