The Persistence of Memory

The Persistence of Memory, painted in 1931, is not just one of Salvador Dalí’s most famous works, it is also one of the most iconic Surrealist paintings in existence. The Empire of Light

'The Empire of Light' (L'Empire des lumières) describes a series of paintings (or 'variations') constructed by René Magritte. Although Frida Kahlo did not identify herself as an official part of the Surrealism movement, many of her paintings contain Surrealist themes and images.
