Story Box Library

Students and parents log in using our Hutchins School account.

Username: THSstories                  Password: THSstories

Vooks: streaming library of animated books. Teachers can join free for one year, parents can join free for one month.

ICDL book logoInternational Children’s Digital Library is a collection of stories from all over the world, in English and over 50 languages. No account needed to read the books online, but students can join for free to bookmark their favourite stories.

Scholastic Learn at Home has two areas with free online non-fiction books.
TrueFlix and ScienceFlix provide short videos plus online ebooks on topics of interest. The books have a read-aloud function to support developing readers.

Wheelers ePlatform: ebooks and audiobooks for primary through to secondary students.

Students need to have their username and password to sign in for borrowing books. 


Britannica School: an online encyclopaedia for students. Excellent for the student who loves finding out about things.

Students must sign in with their Hutchins username and password to access the complete articles.


Libraries Tasmania has a variety of eLibrary services. Visit their eLibrary page to access ebooks and stories, newspapers, journals, comics, magazines, music, films or to learn a new language!

You need a current Libraries Tasmania membership number. If you don’t have a membership, you can join online.

Storytime from Space: NASA astronauts read to you from inside the Space Station!

 Storyweaver by Pratham Books: a huge database of short stories, myths and fairytales from all over the world. Stories are offered in a huge variety of languages, so all children can enjoy stories in their native tongue.

Audible Stories: Audible is offering a selection of stories free to stream online – no downloads.

 Harry Potter at Home: for all fans of Harry Potter, this new site has lots to offer with background information on the characters and fun activities based on the books we know and love.

Dav Pilkey at Home:  A series of videos by Dav Pilkey, creator of Captain Underpants and Dog Man

FunBrain Reading: a selection of books and excerpts to read online

Lunch Doodles with Mo Willems: the author and illustrator of the hilarious Pigeon books presents 15 videos where he shows how to draw all sorts of doodles, and answers questions from lots of fans
