In-text:

For plays, cite the act, scene, and line(s). In this example, “1.4.7-8” refers to Act 1, Scene 4, Lines 7 and 8.

In Macbeth, Malcolm said, “Nothing in his life / Became him like the leaving it.” (Shakespeare, 1623/1995, 1.4.7-8).

In this example the words are taken from Act 2, Scene 2, lines 23-25.

In Season's Greetings Bernard has a moment of clarity saying "You know, it just occurred to me, maybe because it’s so early in the morning. I really am a dreadful failure, you know." (Ayckbourn, 2010, 2.2.23-25)
