TASC Drama and Theatre Performance: Images, photographs and artworks

Guide to support students undertaking TASC courses in Drama

Special rules for referencing and reproducing images

► When images are reproduced in your work you must provide an attribution with the image, as well as a reference in the reference list.

► You must label each image in the order that they appear in your document with a title at the top and a copyright attribution as a caption.

► Images which are in the public domain or which have a Creative Commons licence must also have an attribution.

► Where you can refer to the image as "Figure 1", and you have the attribution as a caption, you do not need to in-text reference the image.

► For online artworks, give the URL.

► For pieces in a museum or gallery, give the museum or gallery name and location.

► Wherever possible, give the photographer credit as author of the image.

► For online images, the source is the name of the website on which the photograph was found.

► For an untitled photograph, give a brief description in square brackets - not italicised.

► Note: the description is two words: [Clip art].

► To reproduce clipart or stock images, check the terms of use carefully to determine whether you have to provide copyright attribution with the image.

► For online images, the source is the name of the website. Do not include the name twice if the website is also the author.

► For an untitled image, give a brief description in square brackets - not italicised.
